This large Forsythia was found growing beside a small lake
here in NC, spring 2002. The shrub was covered with soil to the first
major bend or 8" up from the base. When removing this massive trunk,
the soil fell from the rootball exposing the lower section of trunk. It's
then, that I knew I had something special.
This
bonsai has been in training for two yrs now, fed only heavy amounts of
organic food. All branches were grown the first year. Here are some shots
of the transplant done on March 8, 2004.
This bonsai was on display, in NY September 2004, at the
International Bonsai Symposium.
Measurements:
Base rootage 12", three inches up the trunk measures 8". Height
33". Container: Chinese ware - 20" long, 15" wide, 5"
